I'm Vivi Labo. Danish. Wife. Mother. Grandmother. I live in a small village on the island of Zealand in the eastern part of Denmark.
Making flavoured schnapps and liqueurs is a long-time hobby of mine. And it's such a fascinating one that you can never get tired of.
Because there is so much more to it than just making and drinking it.
It's the great combination of nature experiences and hunting for wild fruits, berries and herbs in forests, marshes, heaths, meadows and along the coast.
Alone or together with family and friends, who share the same interest and fascination. What fun it is.
It's also about spending quiet time writing in your logbook about the outings, who were you together with, where did you go, what did you collect, how was the weather, who said what, jokes and funny remarks.
Writing it all down, and not just the facts, helps to re-live the day when you weeks or months later sit back, listen to your favourite music and enjoy the colour, flavours and taste of that unique schnapps or liqueur you made from what you collected that day.
But making flavoured schnapps and liqueurs is also about all the fun you can have by experimenting with schnapps blends and discovering new tastes.
That's why so many schnapps and liqueur enthusiasts - including myself - join local schnapps clubs, where we can share our results and recipes, exchange experiences, have fun, and plan future outings to areas with great schnapps plants.
Make Your Own Flavoured Schnapps and Liqueurs is my first book. It will be followed by a series of books with my favourite recipes.
The first one in the series will contain more than fifty easy schnapps and liqueur recipes and will be ready in March/April 2019.
